The INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL WORK OF NIGERIA will be engaging stakeholders, social work experts and
desk officers from across Nigeria as well as the general public at her 13th Annual conference of the Institute
of Social Work Practitioners in Nigeria, with the aim of providing professionals with renewed vision,
inspiration, knowledge and practical skills that can be immediately applied to maximize our potential in
repositioning social work practice for National development and meeting up with the obvious emerging
challenges our society is faced with.
The conference this year is expected to provide a platform for participants to reflect upon and discuss
current policies with an opportunity to join forces and reflect on the current situation as it affects Nigeria and
the world at large. The theme for this year is “Professionalization of Social Work in Nigeria; A Focus on
International Best Practice.”
As part of the programmes lined up for this year conference, the Editorial Board of ISOWN JOURNAL
welcomes high quality contributions focusing on the theme of the conference from every field of Social
Work, that advance this discuss. Academic papers of between 5,000 and 7,000 words may be drawn from
either theoretical or empirical work, and are subject to peer review. You are kindly requested to send an
abstract not more than 300 words in soft copy to
 Papers submitted must be original and not previously published
 All materials are required to be sent in word documents, using Font 12, Times New Roman.
Language for the publication is English and must conform to the APA (7th Edition) style of
 Contributors (Nigerians) are required to pay, a sum of ₦5,000.00 (five thousand naira only), while
foreign contributors are to pay $15.00, for assessment and other handling charges, without which
paper will not be reviewed.
 Manuscript must be accompanied by a short bibliography of the author, full address, affiliate
institution, telephone number, e-mail address, title page, abstract and keywords, introduction,
statement of problem, methodology, result, conclusion, recommendation and references.
 Upon receipt of paper submission, the Editor sends an e-mail of confirmation to the corresponding
author within 1-3 working days. If you fail to receive this confirmation, your submission/e-mail may be
missed. Please, contact the Editor in time for that.
 Peer review will be done by using double-blind system for peer review; both reviewers and author’s
identities remain anonymous. The paper will be peer reviewed by the three experts; one is an
editorial staff and the other two are external reviewers. The review process may take 2-4 weeks.
 Authors of accepted papers will pay publication fee of ₦15,000.00 (fifteen thousand naira only) for
Nigerian authors only. Foreign authors are to pay $45.00.

the deadline for submission of full manuscripts for publication is 30th of November, 2022. Further

NOTE: Prospective members of the Institute that will pay ₦70,000.00 (seventy thousand naira only) will be
given the privilege to present their abstracts without additional payment.
